In the body, use keywords here as well. This is an important part as readers get all the information from reading it. Insert comments for all the pictures and include keywords in them if appropriate.
Content
The information provided should be rich in content. It should also be formatted well – bold, italics and underlined as this also plays a small part in search engine placements. Key word density and frequency are another indexes used by to rank web pages.
Link popularity
When more third party websites point on to your link, it increases your ranking. Link popularity helps to increase the relevance of search. You have to determine the sites that have the highest rankings and request reciprocal links from them. These sites should be along the same theme as yours. You can offer some free or paid service that implies putting a link back to your site and your resource box.
Fake strategies
This is more of using spam to promote business. Excessive use or related and totally unrelated keywords, comment tags, hidden layers, text on the background of the same color, artificial link farms, numerous entry pages etc. are some tactics you should use at all. It could even lead to your site being banned.
Robots.txt file
This file allows you to direct search engine spiders onto the proper places explaining as to what has to be scanned and where. You can also protect your confidential web pages and or directories.
Design and layout

The spider has to do too much of work to throw up searches, and it does not scan each and every word. Your design and layout should facilitate scanning. If you are using Flash or Java, also duplicate the same using HTML tags somewhere in the websites as not all spiders can distinguish dynamically created web pages.
If the web master has forbid access to certain web pages, the spider will not search those places. Also, your link names should no just say click here" or "download here but they should have they keywords or the information instead.
